Summary:
The UK’s iconic seas and coast are home to some of the most colourful, fascinating and beautiful marine life in the world, supporting everything from valuable fish stocks, to delicate jewel anemones. An ecologically coherent network of Marine Protected Areas (MPA) is needed to ensure a proportion of the seas is protected.
NLC was brought in this project to design the user-experience of the new Ocean Devotion website which showcased an interactive, dynamic Geographic Information System (GIS) map covering all the MPAs with use of maps, text and images.

Impact:
The redesigned portal/website significantly enhanced the overall user experience, enabling end-users to easily view, select, and actively participate in campaigns aimed at protecting their regional Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).
Additionally, the platform offered a streamlined process for users to donate to an MPA of their choice, in their region, further enriching the overall experience compared to the previous version.
